The Process

Please email the digital images directly to info@digitalmagicmemories.co.uk
If you are unable to scan your own photos, I will be happy to do this for you.
Note: If you are able to scan your own photographs, please scan at a high resolution jpg or TIFF file at between 300 and 600 dpi. Negatives and slides will require a much higher dpi and are best scanned by me. Please remember, the best outcome comes from the best starting image so a good resolution scan is important. Please call me if you need guidance on how to scan your images.
Provide me with guidance on what you require, i.e. repairs, removal of items or people etc..
Indicate whether you need the image re sized and if you would like prints made.
I will email you a free quotation for the work.
If you accept my quotation I will commence working on the restoration and once compete, email you a preview, with a watermark, for your approval.
If you decide not to go ahead, your photograph(s) will be returned to you at no cost to yourself.
Once the restored photo has been approved, I will email you my invoice for payment before prints and/or the final image is emailed to you.
Payment can be made either by cheque, bank transfer or credit/debit card via PayPal for which I can send you a link if required. A PayPal account is not required to use this method.
Once payment is received I will proceed to print images and email you the final digital file (if requested) without the watermark. Prints and original photographs will be posted to you.

Restoration & Retouching

Minor restorations: removal of small scratches and blemishes. Minor repairs to old images, corrections, enhancements and resizing. From £20.
Moderate restorations: Heavy scratches or tears on non vital parts of the photograph. Colour changes. From £30.00
Major restorations: Extensive fading. Mould or water damage. Tears across important features. Heavy discolouration. Object/person removal and background changes. From £48.00

Hand colouring:

Montage & Display

Up to 3 different images into one from £20
4 - 7 different images into one from £25
8 - 12 different images into one from £35

Memory Squares

Memory Squares are a wonderful way to display a large number of photographs. Anything from 12 to over 100 photographs can be displayed. Below is an indication of current prices.

Printing

Completed Restorations, Montage, Displays or Memory Squares can be printed onto high quality photographic paper and presented either mounted or unmounted. Prices for printing and/or mounting will vary depending on the size. Below is an indication of current prices.

Scanning your image

The quality of the finished product is very dependent on the quality of the image that is provided so a photo restoration requires a good scan. If you are scanning images yourself, please scan just the photograph, not the whole scanner bed. Images should be scanned as jpg digital files (TIFF, png, psd files acceptable, NOT pdf files please) at a good resolution of between 300 - 600 dpi for most images. Depending on the size of your original image, this may vary. If you are not able to scan a photograph yourself, I am very happy to do this for you.
Once you have scanned your image, please use the upload facility below completing the required form with your details and press send. Once received I will assess and email you a quotation for the work.
Digital images from mobile phone/tablets can also be uploaded in the same way.
Please be aware that it is not possible to restore a completely blurred image into a sharp image.

If any of this seems too complicated or you are not sure about any of the steps involved please contact me and I will be able to advise the best way of sending your photo/digital file to me. Please remember, the best outcome comes from the best starting image.

How to pay

When your photo restoration is complete I will email you a low resolution preview for your approval. The preview image will have a watermark across it which will be removed when the high resolution image is printed or the digital file sent to you.

If no further changes are required then an invoice will be emailed to you for payment. I accept cash (local clients only), cheques, bank transfer or credit/debit card via PayPal. You do not require a PayPal account to pay by this method. (Payment using credit/debit cards may incur a small charge.)

Payment is required before I proceed to print or send completed digital files.

Once payment is received your restored/altered photos will be printed and/or emailed to you. In the case of prints, these will be posted to you at the address given to me by 1st class Royal Mail "signed for" delivery.

PayPal

If you prefer to pay by credit/debit card I can send you an email with a link to enable payment via PayPal - you do not require a PayPal account to pay by this method.

Bank Transfer

If you bank online you may prefer to pay by bank transfer, bank details will be on the bottom of my invoice for ease of payment.

Cheque payments

Please make these out to Digital Magic Memories for the required amount and send to my address at 14 Radstone Road, Brackley, Northamptonshire NN13 5GD. I do not currently accept credit/debit card payments over the telephone or via the website.
